Adding Classrooms
Classrooms are the foundation of your center's organization in Bloomily. This guide covers creating classrooms, setting age ranges, and managing capacity.
In this article
1. Creating a Classroom
To create a new classroom:
- Navigate to Classrooms in the sidebar
- Click the Add Classroom button
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Butterflies", "Toddler Room 1")
- Configure the settings described below
- Click Save
Naming tip: Use names that are easy for parents to remember. Many centers use themes (animals, nature) or descriptive names (Infant Room, Pre-K).
2. Setting Age Ranges
Age ranges help organize children appropriately and are used for:
- Automatic classroom suggestions during enrollment
- Age-appropriate activity recommendations
- Licensing ratio calculations
Common Age Ranges
| Classroom Type | Age Range |
|---|---|
| Infants | 0-12 months |
| Toddlers | 12-24 months |
| Twos | 24-36 months |
| Preschool | 36-48 months |
| Pre-K | 48-60 months |
3. Setting Capacity
Capacity limits help you manage enrollment and maintain proper ratios.
- Set the maximum number of children allowed in the classroom
- View current enrollment vs. capacity at a glance
- Receive alerts when nearing capacity
4. Assigning Staff
Assign teachers to classrooms so they can:
- View and manage children in their classroom
- Create daily reports for their students
- Receive notifications for their classroom
- Check children in and out
Staff can be assigned to multiple classrooms if needed (e.g., floaters).
5. Editing & Archiving
To edit a classroom, click on it from the Classrooms list and modify any settings.
Archiving: If you no longer need a classroom, archive it instead of deleting. This preserves historical data while removing it from active views. Children should be moved to another classroom before archiving.
