Reporting Absences
Let your childcare center know when your child will be absent so they can plan accordingly and ensure their safety.
How to Report an Absence
Reporting an absence is quick and easy:
- Open the KidsDaily app or parent portal
- Go to your child's profile
- Tap "Report Absence"
- Select the date(s) your child will be absent
- Choose a reason (optional but helpful)
- Add any notes for the center
- Submit the absence report
Absence Types
You can report different types of absences:
Sick Day
When your child is ill and cannot attend. Some centers have policies about when children can return after illness.
Vacation
Planned time away for family trips or holidays. Report these in advance when possible.
Personal/Appointment
Doctor visits, family events, or other personal reasons your child won't be attending.
When to Report
Report absences as early as possible:
- Planned absences: As soon as you know the dates
- Same-day absences: Before your usual drop-off time
- Emergencies: As soon as you're able to
Why it matters: Reporting absences helps centers plan staffing ratios, meal preparation, and activities. It also ensures they know your child is safe at home and not missing.
Canceling an Absence Report
If your plans change and your child will attend after all:
- Go to your child's profile
- Find the reported absence
- Tap "Cancel" or "Remove"
- The center will be notified automatically
Absence Policies
Your childcare center may have specific policies about:
- How far in advance to report planned absences
- Documentation required for sick days
- Return policies after illness
- Vacation allowances and tuition credits
Contact your center directly if you have questions about their specific policies.
